After breakfast at your ecolodge, preparing for the adventure that lies ahead. As the morning sun illuminates the landscape, embark on your horse riding along the ancient goats trails. The journey southward will take you towards the majestic Nabataean city of Petra, traversing through a wild and remote environment that promises both challenge and awe. As you enter the Sharah mountain range, you'll find yourself amidst juniper trees, offering a refreshing contrast to the expansive desert plains of Wadi Araba. By noon, you'll be near the Monastery, also known as El Deir. Here, you will dismount your horses and set off on foot for an approximately 40-minute walk to the ancient city of Petra, approaching it via the magnificent El Deir. At the end of the trail, the grandeur of the Monastery will greet you, its impressive façade standing 43 meters high and 44 meters wide. Despite the soberer ornamentation compared to the Khazneh, its majestic presence is undeniable. The exceptional preservation of this monument, despite the erosive forces in Petra, stands as a testament to its enduring legacy. After soaking in the splendor of the Monastery, you will enjoy a unique advantage: bypassing the more crowded routes of Petra and avoiding the strenuous climb of 800 steps. Though some ascent is still required, the journey is well worth the effort. As the day transitions into evening, you will make your way back to your lodge after an exhilarating horse ride.
