Tour Plan

Our adventure begins with a hike through the diverse landscapes of the Dana Biosphere Reserve. This remarkable area spans four distinct ecozones, home to an incredible variety of plants, birds, and wildlife. We'll follow a trail down along the Feynan Canyon. The first 3.5 kilometers are steep, so be sure to take a moment to enjoy the breathtaking sandstone scenery. After about an hour, you'll find yourself in a semi-tropical climate where lush oleander and tall grasses thrive. The canyon widens, but our path remains narrow, offering magnificent views of the changing vegetation against the canyon walls. Near the end of our trek, we'll pass through a Bedouin encampment, getting a glimpse into the nomadic life of locals and their goats. The trail then leads us south to our camp, situated near the entrance of Wadi Ghweir. We'll join a traditional Bedouin meal before sleeping in one of the tents.
Overnight: Wadi al Ghweir camp.
Optional upgrade: Feynan Ecolodge.
Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner
Hiking time: 5-7 hours

On our second day in the Dana Reserve, our trail will lead us on an aquatic adventure into the eastern part of the reserve, hiking up the marvelous Wadi Ghweir canyon. This canyon is a true oasis, with water flowing year-round and lush palm trees, oleander, and ferns growing along the walls. Keep an eye out for crabs and frogs in the water as we make our way. The path will lead us higher into the canyon, where we'll navigate through stunning scenery and even scramble over some large boulders. We'll take a break for a refreshing swim in one of the small pools, where your guide will prepare a delicious lunch. Afterward, the hike continues eastward. As the canyon widens, the vegetation gives way to the desert landscape. We'll arrive at our bivouac just before sunset, where a well-deserved dinner will be prepared, leaving you to enjoy a magical evening of stargazing.
Overnight: Bivouac in Mansoura area
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Time: 5-6 hours

After an early breakfast, we'll begin our hike southward, following the cliffs that overlook the vast, endless sand dunes of the Wadi Araba desert. Your guide will prepare a well-deserved trailside lunch for us to enjoy amidst these breathtaking views. In the afternoon, our hike continues through the stunning landscapes west of Shobak, leading us to Jenina's Spring, also known as "Jenina's Eye." This vital water source irrigates the surrounding olive groves. Our camping spot for the night will be chosen based on our progress, ensuring we have the best possible location. Once we arrive, you can relax with a cup of tea while taking in the magnificent views before a well-deserved dinner.
Overnight: Bivouac
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Hiking time: 5-6 hours

We'll begin our last day of hiking by heading south. First we walk along the clifs. More south, we walk through Al Hisha, an open woodland area filled with deciduous oak trees—Jordan's national tree—and pistachio trees. The trail gradually takes us downhill, leading us to our final bivouac camp near Little Petra. Here, hot tea and a delicious, well-deserved dinner will be waiting. We'll spend our last night sleeping outside under a blanket of stars. Tomorrow our hike will lead us to one of the marvels of Jordan; Petra!
Overnight: Bivouac in Little Petra
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Hiking time: 6 hours

On our final trekking day, we'll enter the ancient city of Petra through a less-traveled route, allowing us to avoid the crowds. We’ll hike through the Wadi Ghurab and follow a historic Nabataean trail that winds around the last mountain, leading to a hidden plateau with magnificent views of Wadi Araba. Just beyond, the awe-inspiring Monastery will appear in all its glory. After some time to rest and take in the view, we’ll continue our descent into the main Petra site, where we'll explore its famous rock-cut tombs, temples, and the magnificent Roman-style theater. We'll end the day at the iconic Treasury, marveling at its intricate façade before exiting the site through the breathtaking Siq, a narrow canyon. We will then transfer you to your accommodation for the night.
